Providing for Homeless Person

Get Involved

Opportunities

Our summer volunteering program recruits people to help distribute tents, tarps, and sleeping bags with information on knowing legal rights in Los Angeles. You can sign up anytime around the year and we will keep you informed on updates as our events come closer.

Internship opportunities provide the option to work from home or in person with our outreach team on recruiting additional volunteers to distribute tents and to solicit donations of tents and sleeping bags from individuals and companies that manufacture or distribute camping supplies.

Volunteering

Volunteers will meet with their distribution teams at the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law on the first Monday of each month over the summer. There will be a brief orientation about the procedures followed during tent distributions followed by a discussion of homelessness in Los Angeles and present policies to provide services and shelter for people struggling with homelessness.

Generally volunteer teams will consist of five to seven team members and will collaborate together during the distribution of tents to persons without shelter in the down town area. Volunteer meetings will take place at the Center for Human Rights 6pm on tent distribution dates.

As a strategy to provide continuity to the program and replace distributed tents, all volunteers are asked to make a twenty five dollar ($25) donation used to acquire more tents for the project, however this donation is not required.

Internships

Year round we offer internship opportunities to work on our outreach team. Team members will work online and may work from home or in person where computer equipment can be provided. Interns will work on recruiting summer volunteers and soliciting individuals as well as camping equipment distributors for donations. Internships may provide college credit.
